This ride was a great success and kudos are in order for ride leader David Clayton for outstanding route, making the maps and his leadership in making this ride work. Recognition is also due to Dave Seeley for riding sweep and Arjen Sundman for leading the Portland group home after the ride leader dropped off in Vancouver. Kathy Smith and Melody Anderson of the OSC Valley Chapter came up for the ride.
Nine scooters rolled out under a cloudy sky for the trip to Swift reservoir. Michelle had the smallest scooter, a Kymco, Bet & Win, 150. Alvaro Pardo and Arjen were on the largest scooters, both BV 500s.
The route took us to Battleground, Washington where we turned east toward Mt. St. Helens. The cloudy sky blocked our view of St. Helens, but there was lots of other beautiful scenery. Upon reaching Swift Reservoir we turned south and took Windy River road into Stevenson, Washington. We took breaks about every 50 miles.
The rain held off until the last 40 miles. We really can’t complain about the rain, after all, we are the Oregon Scooter Club.
