On Friday afternoon the OSC rolled out of the Damascus Safeway bound for the Painted Hills. 11 scooters rolled that day ranging in size from Morph is 250 to a BV 500. A 12th scooter was trailer over Mt. Hood and joined in the second day. Camp that night was in Maupin.
On Saturday at 8:15 AM we headed out in two groups. A fast group lead by David Clayton and a slower group lead by Christie Slight on a Honda 150. The day consisted of a 210 mile ride through farm land, along rivers, through ghost towns, past Cathedral rock in southeast Oregon and finally with a passage through Picture Gorge with the day ending in camp in Dayville.
While there was lots of great scenery along the way, Sunday was the featured destination, the Painted Hills. It was about an 80 mile ride to the hills and we arrived before it was too hot. We had a short hike thru the hills and then it was off to our last campground, Scout Lake where we had a campfire that evening.
This was a distance ride that accommodated all types of scooters. In the slower group we never exceeded 50 MPH, and took a few more breaks than the fast group. One rider decided not to climb Mt. Hood due to the size of their scooter, so they trailer over to the first nights camp. All in all it was a great ride enjoyed by everyone. We coverd 563 miles in 3 days.
