Hi all. The headline says it all. While we were out riding yesterday, my Dad was out as well down in Santa Cruz CA. I am so terribly sad. We were very close.
This is the thread at Modernvespa that has been taking remembrances:
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I'm glad that you and he shared a passion in life - scooters. I hope you have many fond memories to help you through this time.
It is very sad to hear when a loved one passes but in essence you both had the passion for the same thing and as you said the time before the crash was wonderful..... now he has gone up to the "Scooter in the Sky". Memories are something no one can take from anyone of us and it sounds like you have great times with your father to forever remember.
As you informed me yesterday, your dad died while doing something he loved. Prior to the crash, his last hour was a beautiful one. It is good that a father and son have a solid relationship such as that you had with your dad. I've observed how you and your own son have a close relationship too. You are a great dad to your son.
My friend, I wish that I was there with you last night in Santa Cruz to share that bottle of wine. When you get home to Portland, we'll go out and have that toast to your dad.
Riding on Hwy 9 ... this is my home town and where I learned to ride.
My condolences and thoughts are with your family, with his traveling partners on that tragic day, and the many people he obviously touched in his lifetime.
Godspeed,
Juaning
