Hagg Lake 2009 Ride Report
Hagg Lake rides are an OSC tradition and the 2009 ride is in the books as a success. The skys were overcast all day but that did not dampen the sprites of the 19 riders who participated in the ride.
Two groups were riding in this year’s Hagg Lake ride, A slower relaxed group and a maxi-scooter group. The relaxed group left Holman’s at 11:30 AM with 2 Honda Metropolitans, a Honda 70 Passport, a Vespa 200, a Helix, a Majesty and a Burgman 400. At 12:10 PM they rendezvoused with the west side relaxed riders and the group grew to 12 with the addition of a Buddy 50 and two Budy 125s, a Vespa 150, and a Burgman 400. The group headed out to Hagg Lake with a top speed of 45 MPH.
About half way through the circumnavigation of the lake the faster group, consisting of 7 maxi-scooters that had left Holman’s at noon, caught up with the relaxed group. After a break at the Lake Market, we rode as a group, both the relaxed and maxi-scooters, to the Fano Creek Brew Pub in Tigard where the ride disbanded. On the return trip the speeds were 45 MPH or less.
All it all it was a great ride of about 87 miles that accommodated both fast and slower riders
