Oregon Scooter Club - Come Ride With Us !
It was a day that tested the dedication of OSC riders. 16 members and guests showed up for breakfast at the Bomber Restaurant and before heading in to eat the weather was looking good. After breakfast and for ride departure – Rain.
After a pre-ride discussion lead by President Castel, 8 riders mounted their scooters and headed for the bridge. We took a new route for leaving the Bomber that kept us off of McLaughlin Blvd until we reached the bridge at the Clackamas River. Since this new route kept us off the major roads and away from traffic, it will likely be used in future rides heading south from the Bomber Restaurant. You can familiarize yourself with this route segment by ride by reviewing at the ride map. After the first two miles of riding the heavy rain stopped and was replaced by occasional light showers.
The ride took us along the near flood stage Clackamas River out to Barton, up Foster Road and through the East Moreland neighborhood. When we stopped to enjoy the bridge, William found a treasure, a sliver plated trumpet in good condition that will make a wonderful decoration. We ended the ride at the Fulton Pub around 2:30 PM, enjoyed some refreshments and headed off for our individual rides home.
The Cedar Crossing Covered Bridge ride is recommended anytime time of the year for a quick easy ride that take you through nice rural areas. When stopping to view the bridge the best parking is on the south side of the bridge.
Since completing the ride a few adjustments were made to the MapSource (Zumo) waypoints to for clarity, but the route was unchanged. Visit the OSC Ride Library to download your updated map in any of 4 formats including an iPhone map.
