The November first Sunday Open Ride was our first winter ride this season. Since the weather was not promising we did not have a rout selected before the meet up. The turnout was a little light since many of the members attended Steve Castle's OSC remembrance gather just the day before. Two OSC riders braved the misty cool day and took a ride following breakfast. Here is Ernie's ride report:
Pretty light attendance for…Continue

Valley Chapter Elections were held at the Sassy Onion on Saturday October 26th in Salem. There were eight members in attendance. Kathy Smith was voted in as President, and Melody Anderson was voted in as Vice President.
It also was decided that during the off season, impromptu rides would be held instead of the regular monthly rides that are held during the riding season. There was no ride that day.
With a cloudy sky and at 56 degree temperature kickstands went up at 12:08 PM for the Nehalem River Ride. Since both of the riders were comfortable with freeway riding we changed the fist leg of the ride by dropping the in town portion of the ride and taking Highway 217 and 26 to the start of the fun part of the ride, highway 47. Half of the first leg was typical freeway riding, but once we hit the turn off to Veronica, the fun part of the ride started.
We have made a few upgrades to the maps and routes for the Lake Merwin Ride. You can see all the details by vising the OSC Ride Library. Here is a summary of the changes:

Kickstands were up at 12:30 PM under a sunny sky with 61 degree temperatures as 4 scooters rolled out of the Overlook Restaurant for the 100 mile Lake Merwin Ride. If you have not ridden the Lake Merwin Ride you are encouraged to do so, the Lake Merwin Ride is my favorite ~1,00 mile ride from the OSC Library.
As we moved North of Battleground, Washington we began to climb in elevation and entered the woods. There were beautiful views of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood, the Lewis River and…Continue

If there was a better day for this ride I don’t know when it would have been. At noon we gathered up around the 14 scooters for the pre-ride talk. As we were talking the last of the fog lifted and we launched our ride under cloudless skies. It was a perfect ride.
After just a few miles we boarded the Canby Ferry to cross the Willamette, and then it was though the farm lands and nursery fields of North Clackamas County. We arrived at the Gallon…Continue

OSC Open Rides are held on the first Sunday of each month. The January, February, March, November, and December 2014 are "Winter Rides" with the destination and maps posted only a few days before the ride so we can make it a ride of weather appropriate length. For the other months check out…Continue
