I need some help. Next weekend I'm taking the Team Oregon course. Currently, I have a permit. I'd really appreciate it if you could find some time to ride with me so I can get some practice in.
I had a great time on the Raid! Thanks everybody for such a good time!
Yesterday evening I went to the Meet & Greet at Corrazo where it was good to reconnect with old scooter friends and make some new ones!
We followed this by going around the corner to Chesterfield's and hung out on the sidewalk patio sipping tasty cocktails and beers and telling tall tales...I totally crushed on one of the waitresses, that line of tattooed hearts on the backs of her calves, woo!
The quote of the rally came from this meeting too, which I won't repeat here lest delicate ears be bruised, but you can find immortalized in my Flickr set linked below - let's see if you can tell what it is! *grin*
Anyway, I'd only worn a t-shirt and vest, by the time I finally rode home it was late, and cold! I about froze, and didn't really warm back up until nearly morning despite the kitties trying to help by laying on me, shiver!
Today was a day of continually changing plans for me...first I'd thought I would try to get up early enough to meet the group departing from Corrazo at 0730 but as I was sleeping fitfully as it was, I turned off the alarm with the plan to get straight up an hour later and head straight out to the Bomber Restaurant on Rt.99 and have breakfast with the main group before the ride to Miller Brothers Ranch...but, when an hour later I grogged myself out of bed I changed my plan to have some much needed coffee(!) and light breakfast first then get out to the Bomber by 9am in time to take pictures and maybe ride along on the first leg of the ride, as I wasn't planning on going the whole way or camping over.
So I got to the Bomber with plenty of time to hang out, schmooze and take pictures and felt pretty good so I decided I would ride to Canby, maybe a third of the way, then split off and return. The little Blue Badge was running great, though it is gutless when faced with anything remotely resembling a grade and so I trundled along taking up the rear out to Canby and felt so good that I decided to do the whole ride down to Miller Bros. and cadge a ride back with someone and leave the scoot to be brought back on the trailer. I didn't think I was up to a full round trip and there is always the chance of a breakdown so this seemed a good plan!
It was chilly and overcast when we started but it slowly cleared, with puffy Simpsons clouds - in Silverton we had a longish break while the highway was blocked by a grange parade, tractors and all! The ride through the rolling farmlands was really nice, though it was as if I was on my own much of it as I fell behind, even after drafting a fully-laden Lambretta for some of it, heh!
Finally down into Miller Bros., third time in six weeks for me, I love that place - this time we had it all to ourselves with our little group, what a contrast to SOAK and Emerg+N+See!
So I had a couple of PBRs and hung out through lunch, and started to want to stay over! So I begged the couch in the a-frame from Jason, who'd won the raffle for the use of it, and even was offered a sleeping bag and pillow to be brought in, so this seemed like a fine new plan, I had some things I'd thought to do this weekend instead but I was in the moment and it felt good!
The afternoon ride was going to be a big loop through Silver Falls Park and Silverton - we started up the shortcut to the road only to find a chain across the entrance, leading to an impromptu session of scooter-limbo to get under it - then the ride to Silver Falls was more excellent country roads, though there was a stretch of fresh gravel that I think surprised a few...once at Silver Falls I changed my plan one more time and decided to head for home after all! My back and butt were getting sore, and the prospect of a night on the couch followed by the long ride in the morning was enough to nudge me to keep going, as the scooter was running well and I decided I'd like to sleep in in my own bed in the morning so off I went!
The ride back was more of the same - beautiful countryside, curvy roads and nice sunny but cool weather - by the time I pulled into Chez Ian I was definitely sore though, having put a little over 150 miles behind me in one outing on the little scoot, whee!
