Glad that you didn't get hurt. Being new to scoots, I'm not sure how to respond about the Buddy I50s being maybe too light. Probably, like most models, there are pros and cons. The Buddy 150s do have a great rep for fast acceleration.
I was riding for two weeks before my accident. I've been a member of OSC about three months.
Check out the Modern Buddy Forum at http://www.modernbuddy.com/forum/index.html
One of the frequent posters is Kaos who lives in the Portland Metro and rides a Buddy 125. Kaos is cool.
I saw that Rick Fletcher left you a voice mail. Rick is a great person to get to know and to get you settled in with the OSC.
Nice to read that you ride the Buddy Pamplona! How do you like it?
In response to your question, my accident was preventable and I must take responsibility for it. I grew fatigued and did not verbalize my situation to the two other riders that I was with from the OSC. We were on the way to lunch...
I lost control on a curve (we had taken many earlier) and went down on the dirt. I froze-up on the controls. Fortunately, one of the riders is a nurse and she was an angel looking out after me. The two riders from the OSC, who I barely knew at the time, took great care of me that day. Good people.
I dislocated and broke my left scapula. It was a bad break worse than most of the type. My rib cage apparently got a hairline crack (break) too as most my left ankle caught it as well when my scoot landed on it.
Fortunately, I don't have any head, neck, or back injuries. I'm going to make a full recovery. Currently, I'm getting physical therapy and am still on some pain meds.
OK, enough about me. Who are you? Thinking about joining the OSC? The OSC is a group of great people.
