Oregon Scooter Club -Come Ride With Us

I got a new scoot several weeks ago, and I was going to surprise the members on our 1st ride, but several people have found out, so now 'the cat is out of the bag'!

I purchased an '09 Suzuki Burgman 400, Pearl Mirage White, and I love it! It has a low seat height for my short little legs (28"), and it fits me very well. I traded in my SYM RV250, and as much as I liked it, I like the Burgman even better. There are so many aftermarket parts available for it, and I can tell that I probably will go crazy.

I know that there are several other Burgmans in the group, so I will be relying on your expertise and knowledge of the scoot. So I will appreciate it in advance.

See you on the next ride,

Melody :)

Melody, congratulations. Our scoots are almost identical twins. Except I have a white '09 Burgman 650, and you have a 400. I love mine also. It doesn't show dirt very much (dark bugs though, are a different matter), while it does show up nicely on the road. With a white helmet, which I use too, you're pretty darn visible to drivers.

Congradulations on the new Scooter. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Where did you purchase from? I would checkout www.burgmanusa.com for info in regards to your scooter. Enjoy!

Al,

I got it from Beaverton Honda. They carry the SYM line, and so I was able to trade in my RV250, and got a pretty good deal. And Suzuki had cash back, and 1.9% to finance the balance. So I was pretty jazzed about that.

Thanks for the link to burgmanusa. It looks like there is lots of info available.

See you at the next ride.

Cheers! Now we are the OSC/Vespa/Burgman Club. By the way, where did the "Burgman" get its name??? The only Burgman I know is the artsy Swedish film director, Ingmar Burgman (SP) from the 60's ;)

Great news! I hope you like it as much as I like mine. I wonder how many Burgies there are in this group? I've done a lot of research on aftermarket parts. I'd be glad to share what I found.

It seems like the first item changed out is the windscreen. I think most of us have opted for Givi. It makes a huge difference.

Happy riding!!

Scott,

Thanks for the offer. I can't believe how many after market parts are available.

Do riders change out the windshield because it is too short? I am 5'2", and wonder if I need to change it out. But when I duck my head down a little bit, the noise is definitely much less.

And I would like to put in some LED tail lights. I just got a service manual, so maybe it has some part numbers to cross reference.

See you at the next ride,

Melody :)

I swapped it out for the height. The bonus is the width. It provides extra coverage for hands (though not enough for winter).

I have a Givi trunk with after market LED lights. I leave it on for the extra lights. They are high mounted, extra bright, turn signals, brakes, and running lights. A very helpful addition.

Alan,

Happy to add to the Burgman part of the club. I did a lot of research before I purchased my Burgman, and almost everything was positive. And three of the Burgies are listed in the top ten touring scooters.

Melody,

Congrtulations on your new ride! I have a Burgman 650 Executive that has served me very well for a couple of years now. I'm sure you will like your Burgie even more as you get used to it. You may already be well aware of the Burgmanusa forum, but if you're not, you should check it out. There's a ton of info. there about how to do mods, fix things, etc. It's a great site. I contribute a small amount each month for the good of th cause, but that's totally voluntary.

Oops. I should have read the other posts before I did mine. Someone else already recommended the Burgmanusa forum.

I put a Clearview XL windshield with a vent on my bike. Execs. have electric windshields, so I can move it up and down a few inches. I can still look over the top of it when it's in the full up position, which I like. I've done a lot of mods. on my bike over time, including a new Russell Day Long seat. There are a few pictures of my bike in the gallery section of the Burgman forum.

Gary,

Thank you for the info on my Burgman. I really like the ride. It is very smooth. And I can really feel the suspension when I'm going over bumps.

There are so many aftermarket parts for the Burgman. I can tell that I am going to want some of them. I already have the Stebel Nautilus Compact air horn, but it's not installed yet. I had one on my SYM. And I want to add some LED tail lights, but I'm having a hard time finding them. I got the original OEM part number from the dealer, so that might help.

Hope to see you at the next ride,

Melody :)

I just saw a new type of wind screen in a magazine. Thought I'd pass it on, as Burgie 400 is one of the first available.

I have no idea of how much it costs. The fact it is adjustable is interesting.
