Jeannie, I'd love to help, but unfortunately I'm down in Salem. I added a response to the other thread (involving Drew). Your strength in crimping should NOT be an issue if you have a decent enough crimping tool. Do you have something that can test continuity in the line? That would help.
Not sure your dealer will want to get involved -- it depends on how much they support after-market add ons. But the Stebel is well worth the effort. A great horn, and great safety item.
I just googled "Stebel Nautilus Compact Air Horn" and lots of online places have them. I think I used Amazon.com.
I also got the wiring kit, and it was necessary. I guess there is a horn not quite as loud, but still loud (WOW - THIS IS SUPER LOUD) that is easier to install. Complete directions on installation are on the Modern Vespa website.
I hope this helps. I couldn't find the air horn in stock anywhere in Portland.

I ordered mine from Bikerhighway.com. They had the best price I could find at the time (at least when shipping was added on). They sell the wiring harness for an additional amount -- I didn't get it, but it would have saved me some time if I had. They also sell the Stebel Magnum model, and you get two horns (high and low) for a really decent price (about $8 to $10 or so less than the Stebel Nautilus back when I was ordering). Twistedthrottle.com is also a good place to shop for the horns and wiring harness. Their shipping was a bit more, as I recall. And they are in Rhode Island, I think. Bikerhighway is in California. Stuff takes a good week or so to get here from Twistedthrottle. Bikerhighway goods arrive faster.
Great advice. When I ordered mine I got some kind of slight sale price and shipping was free at the time (I think). Geeesh! My short term memory escapes me sometimes! The Stebel Nautilus Compact air horn is what a lot of Vespa people have; they also offer black or 'chrome' models (chrome is liked a lot by motorcycle people and the horn is visible so it 'meld' in with all that exposed chrome on cycles). Have fun, and when you get the extra wiring stuff, save cutting them shorter until the last; we cut so the wires JUST-fit, and when we put everything back together, we needed just one more inch at the horn, so we had to splice a piece in. You will use ALL of the wiring in the kit (except for one white wire, which didn't get used at all except for that splice we had to do).
I don't check the forum as often as I should, so I just saw your post. Maybe you've got your horn working by now? I hope so.
I notice you said you didn't get the wiring kit. That may have been your problem, or a blown fuse. The wiring kit has what you need to make sure you don't blow fuses or burn out your horn button. The Stebel draws a lot more power than standard horns do which can cause problems unless wired properly.
Hello, I 'did' get the wiring kit, and after giving up the first night, we got it working the next morning. Thank you. "don't make me honk at you" - you'll remember it!
I'm glad to hear that you got your horn working. I had one on my last scoot, and every once in a while it wouldn't work. So my husband wired the horns together, so at least one of them would work.
I just got another horn for my new scoot, and this time I ordered the wiring harness. I hope that makes it work better.
