Come Ride With Us... Over Bald Mountain
Most of us have ridden over Bald Peak, but this ride crosses Bald Mountain, Southwest of Carlton. This route has never been featured as a OSC ride. Join us as we follow the country roads out to Carlton and then head up Nestucca River road nearly half way to the coast and turn south on a one lane paved Forest Service road for a run over Bald Mountain and work our way to Wilaimina. Fantastic scenery with almost no traffic. A ride most worthy of an afternoon.
Check this page 24 hours before the ride for any route or weather driven updates.
This ride will be at a touring pace. Check out the Ride Ticket and ride map (in four formats) for all the details.

The ride is open to all scooters and motorcycles, OSC members and non-members. If you won’t be riding that day, or family/friends want to participate, feel free to join us in a car.
This event has three 10 On The Road points. There are three total points available today's breakfast and ride.

Comment by Gary Kaufman on June 3, 2012 at 7:06pm best ride to date ! if i could comment on one thing. since joining the group, all the rides except one have taken far longer then the posted end time. although im sure its been brought up before, why do we start our rides so late on a sunday ? i only speak for myself, but i would like to be rolling by 10 and get home at an earlier time
Comment by Melody Anderson on June 3, 2012 at 5:34pm Just got home, and the ride was as good as they said it would be. What a treasure was discovered when the one lane forest service was found. Lots of good company, as always, and some new faces too. Can't wait to ride this one again!!!
Comment by Ernie Goble on May 17, 2012 at 7:34am I'm looking forward to it for sure! Thanks guys.
Comment by Rick Fletcher on May 13, 2012 at 10:32am Yesterday, Steve Castel and I did a pre-ride check out on this route to see if the roads sustained any damage from the winter weather. The road conditions are good and we both heartily endorse this ride as potentially being one of the best rides of 2012.
About a third of the trip is on a one lane paved road over Bald Mountain with great views of the mountains and valleys. A long the way we also passed through several Burch forest. The temperatures were in the upper 70s the day we rode and even with this good weather when we were on the one lane road section we only say four vehicles in and three of the vehicles were involved in a n organized litter pick up. The road was spotless. There was not a can or bottle in sight.
This is a seasonal and mostly unmarked route, so it is not likely a road that you will find on a casual ride. This ride has never before been featured as a OSC ride and we hope you will join us for this scooter adventure.
